You hate to speculate, but at the same time it’s kind of obvious when teams say a player or group of players aren’t at team workouts but can’t specifically say why. In the age of COVID-19, teams don’t have to say which players have tested positive for the coronavirus, yet it’s not hard to figure out.
Again, this isn’t reporting anything more than White Sox third baseman Yoan Moncada currently being held out of team workouts. He wasn’t training at the facility and manager Rick Renteria didn’t going into any specifics.
On Sunday, the White Sox announced that two players had tested positive for COVID-19. Both were asymptomatic.
A player can resume team activities once they come up negative on consecutive tests for COVID-19 and follow all the health protocols.
