White Sox Place Reliever On Injured List

-

The White Sox made a roster move prior to their series finale against Cleveland Wednesday night, as right-handed pitcher Jimmy Lambert was placed on the 10-day injured list.

The 25-year-old made his MLB debut coming out of the bullpen for the White Sox on Saturday against the Twins, pitching a scoreless inning. Lambert threw another shutout inning in relief Tuesday night before going on the injured list with a right forearm strain.

Matt Foster, 25, has been called up from the Schaumburg training site to take Lambert’s spot in the bullpen.

Last June, Lambert had Tommy John surgery after making 11 starts at Double-A.

As for Foster, he was drafted by the White Sox in 2016 out of Alabama and has put up some solid numbers in the minors as a reliever. The righty has a 2.52 career ERA in 182 minor league innings, with a 4/1 K/BB ratio and 1.03 WHIP in 132 games.

In 2019, Foster appeared in 43 games (37 at Triple-A) and posted a 3.20 ERA in 64.2 innings, recoding five saves with the Charlotte Knights.
