VIDEO: White Sox Rookie Nick Madrigal Suffers Nasty Injury

-

This didn’t look good at all for White Sox rookie second baseman Nick Madrigal, who immediately got up holding his left hand after getting thrown out at third base Tuesday night against the Brewers.

After leading off the third inning with a single to right, Madrigal tried to get to third base on a hard-hit single by Luis Robert. However, Avisail Garcia made a perfect throw to third and Madrigal injured his left hand with an awkward slide.

Back in 2018, Madrigal suffered a broken left wrist that cost him time early in the college baseball season when he was still at Oregon State. That injury came on a slide at home plate. He missed about two months.

Danny Mendick came in to replace Madrigal at second base.

UPDATE

The White Sox said Madrigal injured his shoulder on the slide, so at least it’s not that previously broken wrist.
