White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson was away from the team for a few days to be with his wife Bria for the birth of their second child, Paxton. Congrats to the couple and now Anderson has been reinstated back with the team.
To make room on the 25-man roster, the White Sox have optioned right-handed reliever Dylan Covey to Triple-A and no one was sad about it on the South Side. The White Sox also optioned Ian Hamilton to Charlotte after coming off the 10-day injured list.

Covey, 27, only pitched in two games through the first week of the regular season. He was good against the Royals, going 1.1 innings without giving up a run. Then, he came in against Cleveland a few days ago and didn’t get an out, walking two and giving up a hit. He was charged with two runs, one of them was earned while he blew the lead in the eighth inning.
The last two years Covey has appeared in 45 games, including 33 starts, but the righty just hasn’t taken advantage of his opportunities. He put up a 7.71 ERA in 2017 in 70 innings and in 121.2 innings last year Covey had a 5.18 ERA.
