Lucas Giolito Gets Fans Ejected in Last Game with White Sox

-

Some fans are saying that Lucas Giolito is soft for this, while others are calling the guys who got ejected during Wednesday night’s Cubs vs. White Sox game at Guaranteed Rate Field assholes.

According to a video that’s circulating around Twitter, at least two White Sox fans were ejected Wednesday night for non-stop heckling of the now former White Sox pitcher. Giolito, who was acquired by the White Sox back in the 2016-17 offseason, was traded to the Los Angeles Angels along with Reynaldo Lopez after last night’s game.

Giolito was in trade rumors since the beginning of this year and he heard enough from those particular White Sox fans that kept chirping him in what turned out to be the pitchers’s final game with Chicago Wednesday night.

The Twitter account @WhiteSoxDJ later described what led up to the eventual call to security to remove the fans from the stadium by Giolito.

Dude was chirping Gio about getting traded to LA for legit 7 straight innings Gio finally cracked. I can’t believe he didn’t throw him out earlier.

Yeah he finally fired back like “I heard you one two three times, keep talking I’ll throw you out” dude didn’t shut up and boom the stormtroopers marched in.

Giolito ended his White Sox career with a 59-52 record, 4.20 ERA, 1.23 WHIP, while striking out 993 batters in 929 innings. The right-hander made 162 starts and back in 2020, he pitched a no-hitter against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

In 2019, Giolito made his first All-Star team and he finished sixth in American League Cy Young voting after posting a 3.41 ERA in 176.2 innings, with 228 strikeouts in 29 starts.

The White sox received two prospects from the Angels in exchange for Giolito and Lopez. The big name is 20-year-old catcher Edgar Quero, a consensus top-100 prospect, who has played at Double-A this season. The second player back in the deal is 23-year-old starting pitcher Ky Bush. The lefty-handed pitcher was a second round pick by the Angels in 2021, taken 45th overall.

Now at 41-62, the White Sox are expected to sell off a few more players ahead of the trade deadline.

Don’t forget to get rid of Anderson, he may do well elsewhere, but his normal cool guy lack of hustle is hurting the Sox. Will get em next year – start now working on our 2024 team – after of course you 86 Anderson.
