The City Of Chicago Needs Baseball More Than Ever

-

On May the 14th 2020, it was just 12 days until the beginning of the Major League Baseball season in Chicago. There should have been a full range of Spring training games taking place across the United States, including the city of Chicago. However, due to the outbreak of coronavirus the MLB season was suspended and there was no baseball being played in the city or anywhere else in the country for that matter.

While everyone is trying their best to get back to normal life as soon as possible, which includes the baseball season, it is not going to be easy. Life in Chicago has been exceedingly difficult in recent months, with shops and restaurants closed in addition to leisure facilities and other entertainment venues such as cinemas. The city just wants something to cheer about and it needs baseball more than ever.

There have been tentative steps made for the Major League Baseball season to begin on the 4th of July weekend. Unfortunately, it would have to begin without any fans inside the stadium. Mayor Lori Lightfoot said, “From the Chicago perspective, we need to make sure that can be done safely,” before continuing, “I can’t predict where we’re going to be in July. I think there’s got to be a lot of coordination and conversation from MLB, the local teams, with their relevant city and health departments. I’m not going to support something that puts people at risk and I certainly don’t think we’re going to be ready in July for having large crowds in a ball field.”

Changes to the schedule will also need to be made but at this point in time, people in the city of Chicago will be happy for baseball to return even if it means they can only watch the games on television. Families and possibly even friends can get together to enjoy seeing the Chicago Cubs in action, which will be a welcome break from the past few months.

The potential return of baseball in Chicago is also good news for baseball betting lovers. So, while fans of the Chicago Cubs cannot attend games inside the famous Wrigley Field, it will be possible to place bets on the team. All the latest sports betting news will be available online in the build-up to the beginning of the Major League Baseball season in Chicago. You can find out more information about all of the options being considered by MLB to get the season started as soon as possible plus news about how sports gambling, in general, is developing throughout the United States.

Governor JB Pritzker has recently unveiled a plan for reopening Illinois and the city of Chicago. Illinois will be split into four different regions, with Chicago being one of them. Goals will need to be met within Chicago and the surrounding area before restrictions are lifted further and that includes the return of baseball.

However, with the plans already in place, it will not be long before Chicago can once again savor live baseball, something it really needs right now.
