Top Cubs Prospects Head To Wrigley Field After More Testing Delays

So far the COVID-19 testing in MLB hasn’t been a disaster, but it hasn’t gone smooth either and we’re almost a week away from Opening Day. Teams have been forced to cancel or delay workouts, while other teams have had players and coaches sit out because results from the COVID-19 tests have been delayed.

The Cubs have already been affected by not getting complete results back in time before beginning team workouts or scrimmages and that includes Wednesday. The team is still waiting for test results on a group of players, so in the meantime they brought over some guys from the South Bend roster. The four players are Robel Garcia, who we saw in 2019, and a few of the Cubs top prospects in Brennen Davis, Miguel Amaya and Chris Morel.

Obviously it’s not ideal that results are coming in a bit late, but hey at least we get to see a few more of the Cubs top prospects in action.

It does make you feel uneasy that we’re still seeing these delays less than 10 days from the start of the season. It seems to happen more frequently when a team wants to do morning workouts and some results haven’t been completed yet.

Will this keep being an issue in the regular season and especially during day games? Maybe that’s why there aren’t as many day games scheduled across the league in general in case there are minor hiccups on game day.

You can watch today’s Cubs scrimmage on Marquee and if you don’t have access then head on over to Twitter. I’ll keep you updated.
