Jose Quintana Is A Ferrari, The Brewers Are A Ford Pinto

-

Without Jose Quintana, the Cubs don’t win the division last year and once again he’s coming up big in the most important time of the season. His dominance against the Brewers continued Tuesday night and it also extended Quintana’s success over the past month.

Let’s begin with the Brewers.

In his last two starts Quintana has pitched a total of 13.1 innings, allowing two combined runs. Both of those outings were against the Brewers and included last night’s 6.2 innings of shutout baseball.

Overall in 2018, Quintana has pitched against the Brewers six times. Here are his numbers in those games.

4-1, 2.17 ERA, 0.88 WHIP, 33 strikeouts, 10 walks, 23 hits, 37.1 innings.

Since the beginning of August, Quintana has a 3.28 ERA in eight starts and he’s been amazing in his last five. Plus, check out his career against the Brewers.

Quintana for whatever reason just seems to own the Brewers. Last year he made two starts against Milwaukee and he only allowed two runs on seven hits and four walks in 15 innings. That included a complete-game, three-hit shutout on Sept. 24.

So, Quintana is revving up right on time for the stretch run. Just remember what Willson Contreras said earlier this season.

Jose Quintana is a Ferrari and the Brewers are a Ford Pinto.
