After going to the hospital on Sunday night and missing Monday’s series finale against the Cardinals, outfielder Jason Heyward will miss his second consecutive game Tuesday night against the Reds.

Heyward was lifted from Sunday’s game following his second at-bat and we later found out he was experiencing shortness of breath and light-headedness, promoting a trip to a hospital.

Cameron Maybin is making his second straight start, filling in for Heyward in right field tonight in the series opener against Cincinnati.

Cubs manager David Ross said Heyward has passed all the tests given to him, but he’s still feeling fatigued.

David Bote gets the nod at second base, while Jason Kipnis remains in the lineup as the DH. After a brutal stretch to end the month of August, Kipnis has gone on a hot streak to begin September.

The Cubs entered Tuesday with a 2.5 game lead over the Cardinals for first place in the NL Central division. St. Louis is playing a doubleheader against Minnesota today.

At 18-23, the Reds are 5.5 games back of the Cubs. These three games at Wrigley Field will be the final matchups between the Cubs and Reds this season. So, a big chance for the Cubs to dash any last hopes the Reds have of winning the division if they can win this series.
