Cubs Win Most Improbable Game Of The Season On A Jason Heyward Grand Slam!

OK, this was fucking nuts, Jason Heyward with a walk-off grand slam WHAT?!?!?!

A whole bunch of improbable shit happened Wednesday night, so of course it ended with Heyward getting the walk-off grand salami off a lefty.

First of all, Anthony Rizzo hit a home run off Aaron Nola and that happened to be the first home run hit by a left-handed hitter against the Phillies starter this season. The Cubs then scored twice in the fourth inning and that included a wild stolen base by Kris Bryant, who just got up and ran to third base because no one was covering the base after a walk to Rizzo.

Anyway, the Cubs were leading 3-0, when Joe Maddon pulled Jose Quintana with two outs in the sixth. Steve Cishek came in and on the very first pitch gave up a game-tying three-run home run.

That was the first home run Cishek has allowed since July 22, 2017. Are you kidding me? So stupid. Things got even weirder.

Brandon Morrow came in to pitch the ninth and he gave up a two-run home run. That was the first home run he’s allowed since 2016!

But of course the Cubs got the last oddity to go their way, as Heyward blasted a 2-2 fastball to right field for the walk-off dinger. Heyward is hitting .139 vs. left-handed pitching this season.

That didn’t matter because on this pitch he got all of it.
