Does Pedro Strop have any good baseball left in his career? Does he even have enough in the tank for the rest of 2020? No one can guarantee answers to those questions, but c’mon, it would be fun if the Cubs brought him back and see if he does look OK again.

And guess what, they could be doing exactly that? Maybe?

Earlier this week the Reds took Strop off the injury list only to DFA him so that they could make room on their roster for a call up. This also coincided with the Cubs releasing reliever Kelvin Herrera from their 60-man player pool.

Naturally, some Cubs fans started to connect the dots and wondered if there could be a reunion. Remember, there was mutual interest between the Cubs and Strop this past offseason, but money was a factor and ultimately he signed with the Reds for $1.825 million.

But now that Strop was DFA’d, money won’t be an issue and guess who was in Chicago Thursday night?

Strop posted a couple videos on his Instagram account, including one of him driving in the city.

It’s been kinda downhill ever since Strop took that at-bat against the Nationals in Sept. 2018, and hurt his hamstring running to first base, as the injuries continued throughout 2019 and into this year. But why not root for a good comeback story and it’s not like the Cubs would force Strop in the bullpen if he’s not showing signs of progressing.

The Cubs have a few spots left in their player pool. Go ahead, bring back Strop!
