What the Hell Was That, Rick Hahn? A Failed Trade Deadline By The White Sox

-

The White Sox entered the final day of the trade deadline as a .500 team, underachieving, but still very much in the AL Central Division race. What did Rick Hahn do to improve the team? He acquired left-handed reliever Jake Diekman…and that’s it.

Rick Hahn’s failure to address the White Sox’s major needs at the trade deadline was the hot topic on this week’s Pinwheels and Ivy Podcast, Chicago’s #1 Chicago Cubs and White Sox podcast. Hosted by Matt Zawaski, Aldo Soto, Kevin Fiddler and Mitch Kaminski.

Larusssa will retire at the end of thia year. He has had his “comeback” but does not have the “piss and vinegar” he had in prior years. Sox did not need to “give away the farm for Soto as they have some potentially very exciting players coming down th pike like Colas and Montgomery. We do not want another Fernando Tatis repeat.

He got a good lefty reliever for a third-string catcher. Maybe Hahn was not comfortable giving away the farm to get elite talent (Soto) like the Padres did, three #1 prospects and a #3 prospect. I would not overpay with LaRussa managing. Maybe LaRussa will retire after this year, and next year can be the push.
