Watch: Jose Abreu Homers In Return To Lineup

Whit Merrifield leads things off with a double to left field.

Carlos Santana clips Zack Collins in the ear with his bat after a follow through on a swing. Collins was evaluated by stayed in the game. Carlos Rodon would go onto walk Carlos Santana.

Both runners steal, the throw goes down to second base but Santana beats it putting runners on second and third.

Jorge Soler opens the scoring with an RBI single to right field.

Carlos Rodon escapes with no further damage by striking out Kelvin Gutierrez and Michael A Taylor.

Tim Anderson hit the ball hard but right at Michael A Taylor in center field.

Leury Garcia strikes out swinging.

Yoan Moncada draws a two out walk to keep the inning alive.

Jose Abreu lines out softly to right fielder Whit Merrifield.

Tim Anderson makes an incredible defensive play, gunning out Hanser Alberto on a ground ball that he filed in the outfield grass.

Jarrod Dyson pops out to Yoan Moncada.

Nicky Lopez grounds out to Nick Madrigal.

Bottom 2nd

Yermin Mercedes flies out to Whit Merrifield.

Mike Minor gets Andrew Vaughn to strike out swinging.

Zack Collins flies out to center field.

Top 3rd

Whit Merrifield doubles for the second time of the game.

Carlos Santana walks. It’s begining to feel a lot like the first inning.

Carlos Rodon tries to sneak a high fastball past Salvador Perez. He isn’t fooled an launches a three run homer to right field. Rodon looked shocked that the ball went out of the ballpark.

Jorge Soler walks.

Kelvin Gutierrez singles on a sharp ground ball to left field.

Micheal A Taylor grounds into a force out to shortstop Tim Anderson. Soler advances to third base and Taylor is safe at first.

Hanser Alberto pops out to Nick Madrigal.

Carlos Rodon escapes the jam by striking out Jarrod Dyson swinging.

Billy Hamilton strikes out swinging.

Nick Madrigal flies out to Whit Merrifield in right

Tim Anderson takes a questionable strike call on a 3-1 count. The ball doesn’t lie as he walks on the next pitch.

Leury Garcia kills the two out rally with a pop out to Hanser Alberto.

Nicky Lopez singles on a ground ball to center field.

Whit Merrifield flies out to right field.

Carlos Santana reaches base for the third time on a ground ball to third base.

Nicky Lopez steal third base.

Carlos Rodon weasels out of trouble by rolling a double play. Salvador Perez grounds to third baseball Yoan Moncada who makes a bad throw to Nick Madrigal. Madrigal is able to pick it out of the dirt and make great turn.

Yoan Moncada strikes out on a foul tip

After a fighting off pitch after pitch, Jose Abreu turns on an inside slider and sends it into the stands to cut the deficit three runs. It is the White Sox first hit of the game.

Jarrod Dyson makes a sliding catch robbing Yermin Mercedes of a single.

Andrew Vaughn pops out to Carlos Santana at first base.

Top 5th

Jorge Soler flies out to Leury Garcia.

Kelvin Gutierrez grounds out to Tim Anderson.

Michael A Taylor strikes out to end the inning. Just what the doctor ordered for Carlos Rodon, a 1-2-3 inning.

Zack Collins strikes out swinging

Billy Hamilton is punched out on strikes

Nick Madrigal flies out to right field. Mike Minor is dealing tonight.

Top 6th

Carlos Rodon trots back out for another inning with 98 pitches.

Hanser Alberto singles on a ball deflected by Yoan Moncada.

Jarrod Dyson bunts it to third. Moncada throws him out at first but Alberto advances to second base.

Nicky Lopez lines out to Andrew Vaughn.

Rodon’s night is over as he makes way for Evan Marshall. Rodon did not have his best stuff but was able to battle and keep the White Sox in the game.

Marshall battles back down 3-0 in the count and gets Merrifield to ground out to third.

Bottom 6th

Tim Anderson grounds out to Nicky Lopez.

Leury Garcia grounds out to third base.

Yoan Moncada singles on a swinging bunt to third base.

Jose Abreu chases the first pitch he see’s and flies out sharply to center field.

Top 7th

Carlos Santana flies out to Andrew Vaughn.

Marshall spins a curveball past Salvador Perez for strike three.

Marshall gets back to back strikeouts. Jorge Soler falls victim to a 3-2 curveball.

Bottom 7th

The White Sox need to get some base runners. Mike Minor has only allowed two hits to this point.

Yermin Mercedes pops out to second baseman Hanser Alberto.

It looks like Andrew Vaughn lined a double into the gap, but Jarrod Dyson races over and makes a diving grab for the second time tonight.

Zack Collins strikes out swinging.

Top 8th

Matt Foster enters the game to pitch.

Foster has Kelvin Gutierrez down 0-2 but promptly gives up a single on the next pitch.

Micheal A Taylor jabs a bunt attempt foul in what Steve Stone calls “terrible technique”. Foster struggles to put him away finally gets him to fan at a changeup for strike three.

Hanser Alberto singles on a soft fly ball that drops in shallow left field. Gutierrez was running on the pitch and advanced to third base.

Jarrod Dyson lays down a bunt, Foster races over and chucks it home. The throw is a little high but Collins does a good job getting the tag down and nailing Gutierrez on a play at the plate. The Royals challenge the call on the field.

After review it looks like his slide beat the tag, but the call stands and the White Sox catch a huge break.

Matt Foster is able to limit the damage despite some excitement on the base paths. Nicky Lopez lined out to Billy Hamilton to end the inning.

Bottom 8th

Scott Barlow enters the game to pitch for the Royals. Cam Gallagher replaces Salvador Perez behind the plate.

Adam Eaton is called on to pinch hit for Billy Hamilton. He goes down on strikes after four pitches.

Nick Madrigal chases a curveball in the dirt and slaps it to short. Nicky Lopez fields it cleanly and gets Madrigal to ground out.

Tim Anderson works a great at bat. After falling behind 0-2 he lays off of three straight pitches then rips a 3-2 slider off the wall for a standup double.

Leury Garcia gets hosed on a call. Slider was well off the plate and called a strike, changing the entire at-bat. Instead of being up 3-1 in the count it is even at 2-2. Garcia refuses to go down however spoiling pitch after pitch and working it into a full count. He fouled off a sliders away, fastballs away and a curveball in the dirt.  Garcia wins the 12 pitch battle drawing a walk. WHAT AN AT BAT!

Yoan goes up in the count 3-1 but bounced a ball up the middle to second baseball Hanser Alberto. Moncada slides head first but the throw just beats him.

Top 9th

Jose Ruiz replaces Matt Foster on the mound.

Whit Merrifield pops out to Adam Eaton in right field.

Carlos Santana smashes a ball to left field. That thing got out in a hurry and now it is a four run deficit.

Nick Madrigal nabs a line drive off the bat of Cam Gakkagher at second base for the second out.

Jorge Soler strikes out looking on a changeup

Bottom 9th

Jose rips a ball off the glove of Carlos Santana for his second hit of the ballgame. Leadoff runner is on for Yermin Mercedes

Yermin swings at ball four twice! The second time the ball is in on his thumbs and he breaks his bat. The ball goes to Nicky Lopez at short who flips it to Hanser Alberto for the out at second. Yermin beats the throw to first to avoid a double play.

Andrew Vaughn gives the ball a ride to deep center field but it dies on the warning track for out number two.

Zack Collins is the last hope for the White Sox. Mercedes takes second base on a ball in the dirt. It is scored as a defensive indifference. Zack Collins skies on to center field and this ballgame is ovah.
