The White Sox intend to compete in 2020, but in preparation for that there’s no indication that they’ll call up their best prospect to get him ready for games that will actually matter next season.
Luis Robert has dominated every level of baseball in 2019 and Triple-A has been no different. On Wednesday night he launched his sixth home run for the Charlotte Knights in just 18 games.
Robert has a slash line of .351/.420/.714, good for a 1.134 OPS with Charlotte. He has 22 home runs and a 1.042 OPS in 93 games in the minors overall this year.
The White Sox officially placed Yoan Moncada on the injured list on Thursday with a hamstring strain and instead of calling up Robert to face MLB pitching, they’ve brought up Ryan Cordell.
Cordell has put up a .640 OPS in 69 games with the White Sox this season.
