In 2017, Kris Bryant had a higher batting average, OBP and OPS than his MVP season.

Through May 19, 2018, Kris Bryant was on pace to hit 42 home runs and have the best season of his career.

But then he injured his shoulder, went on the disabled list twice and never recovered in 2018. Then, he had a couple bad weeks to begin the 2019 season and some of you doubted that Kris Bryant, the same guy with one of the best starts to a career in Cubs franchise history, was all of a sudden not good at baseball anymore.

Since April 17, Bryant has a slash line of .281/.447/.688, with a wRC+ of 191. He’s reached base in 19 straight games and has hit six home runs, 18 RBIs, 18 runs scored, 18 walks, six doubles and a triple.

For the past three weeks, Bryant is walking 21.2% of the time and only striking out 14.1% of the time.

So yes, you’re an idiot for ever doubting Kris Bryant. It’s all right, though, welcome back on the bandwagon.

We start off this week’s Pinwheels and Ivy Podcast talking about the White Sox bringing up guys who just aren’t that good, but you have no choice but to root for them. James McCann looks great. Carlos Rodon might be having Tommy John surgery and Rick Renteria is pissing off White Sox fans, but maybe he’s actually right in some of his lineup choices?

We then transition into a possible trade between the Cubs and White Sox. The Cubs need some bullpen help and two teams have been reportedly scouting them closely. Maybe a trade is coming?

We go over the dumb panic over Kris Bryant and the Cubs. The scary thing is that Bryant is hot and so is Anthony Rizzo, but right now they’re the third and fourth best hitters on the team behind Javier Báez and Willson Contreras.
