Wrigley Field Goes Bonkers After Christopher Morel Takes Advantage of Rockies Boner

-

The Chicago Cubs and Colorado Rockies were locked in a pitcher’s duel on Monday until Christopher Morel took advantage of a Nolan Jones error in the sixth inning that led to Wrigley Field going bonkers in the Cubs home opener.

With Seiya Suzuki and Ian Happ taking their leads off first and second base, Morel jumped on Dakota Hudson’s first pitch to him and lined a hard-hit single to left field. Jones, who is known as a great defensive outfielder, had the ball go underneath his glove and roll all the toward the wall. Happ and Suzuki easily scored and then Morel trotted home after another misplay on the throw in from the outfield.

Just like that, the Cubs picked up a 3-0 lead on a little league home run.

As you can see on the play, Cubs’ third base coach Willie Harris was holding up Happ at third base because Jones has a great arm. But sometimes you gotta be lucky because you’re not going to see Jones messing up to that degree too many times this year.
