The Most Deserving Cubs All-Stars in 2025

-

Voting for the 2025 MLB All-Star Game is officially underway and the Cubs have several deserving players that should be selected to the midsummer classic.

Pete Crow-Armstrong

This one is pretty easy. Pete Crow-Armstrong has put up the most fWAR in the National League through June 5, and he’s leading the way among all center fielders.

Pete Crow-Armstrong NL Rankings (OF)
3.6 fWAR: 1st
141 wRC+: 5th
.869 OPS: 5th
16 HR: 2nd
.557 SLG: 2nd
21 SB: 2nd
53 RBI: t-1st
49 R: t-1st

On the defensive side, Crow-Armstrong leads all NL outfielders with 11 Outs Above Average, 10 Fielding Run Value and 9 Defensive Runs Saved.

Truly witnessing a five-tool player.

Kyle Tucker

The Cubs made a huge trade in the offseason to acquire Kyle Tucker and he’s lived up to the hype. The left-handed hitter is putting up elite numbers at the plate among all outfielders in the National League.

Kyle Tucker NL Rankings (OF)
2.6 fWAR: 4th
155 wRC+: 2nd
.917 OPS: 2nd
12 HR: 6th
45 R: 3rd
39 RBI: 5th
.522 SLG: 5th
.395 OBP: 1st
16 SB: 4th

He’s not as flashy as PCA, but Tucker has quietly been a consistent offensive threat for the Cubs through the first few months of the 2025 season. And although Tucker isn’t the fastest guy in the league, he’s 16-for-17 in stolen base attempts and ranks fourth in the NL as the best base runner among outfielders.

Seiya Suzuki

Not only did Kyle Tucker’s addition to the team in 2025 mean a more permanent change in positions for Seiya Suzuki, it also moved him in the batting order. Suzuki, now in his fourth year with the Cubs, has stepped up in the middle of the lineup and has been one of the best run producers in the National League.

Seiya Suzuki NL Rankings (DH)
1.7 fWAR: 3rd
144 wRC+: 4th
.882 OPS: 3rd
14 HR: 3rd
53 RBI: 1st
34 R: 3rd
.548 SLG: 3rd

Suzuki has tough competition in the NL at the designated hitter position with Shohei Ohtani and Kyle Schwarber leading in most offensive categories. Still, Suzuki has so far produced an All-Star worthy season.

Other Cubs Deserving Consideration

Michael Busch’s 152 wRC+ ranks No. 3 among NL first basemen. No doubt that he deserves some votes, but the left-handed hitter is hindered by some lower power numbers.

Nico Hoerner should get votes too because it’s not like the NL is filled with studs at the position. Brendan Donovan leads most categories at the position, but Hoerner does come in second with a 1.6 fWAR and despite not having any home runs Hoerner leads all NL second basemen with 28 RBI.

Maybe the best argument for Hoerner is that he leads his position with 10 Defensive Runs Saved and six Outs Above Average. Defense should count, too!

Matthew Boyd has been excellent in his first season with the Cubs. The left-hander has a 3.01 ERA, which ranks 12th in the National League. He’s also struck out 70 batters in 68.2 innings, with a 24.7 K% that is 14th highest for starters.
