The Most Amazing Javier Báez Stat Of 2019

-

Javier Báez saved the day on Sunday for the Cubs, hitting a go-ahead three-run homer in eighth inning that led to a 5-3 win and series split against the Mets.

It was his 19th homer of the season, tying Anthony Rizzo for the team lead and it was also the 100th long ball of Báez’s career.

If you paid close attention, then you noticed it happened on a 0-2 pitch from Seth Lugo and that hasn’t really been a rare occurrence for El Mago in 2019.

That was the fourth home run Báez has hit on a 0-2 count and the ninth home run this season after falling behind in the count 0-2. The nine home runs after a 0-2 count is as many home runs as the Red Sox, White Sox and Phillies, and more than six other teams so far in 2019.

What an amazing stat. And it’s not just that Báez is hitting home runs after falling behind two strikes. He’s been unbelievable overall after a 0-2 count. His numbers compared to the rest of the league is unreal.

Now, that’s an amazing stat.
