Despite the Cubs not being as busy as their NL Central rivals this offseason they certainly have seen several coaches leave the organization. That’s not necessarily a bad thing because that just means guys are getting promotions, but it does seem like it’s been a higher turnover than your usual offseason.
The latest coach to leave is Tim Cossins, who’s going to Baltimore to join Brandon Hyde’s coaching staff. Hyde, the former Cubs bench coach, was recently hired as the Orioles new manager and he was able to poach a highly-respected guy in Cossins from the Cubs.

Hyde and Cossins were both with the Marlins before they came over to the Cubs and now they’ll try to make their own legacies with the Orioles.

Cossins isn’t a coach that most fans know and his loss won’t hurt the major league club for now, but he was a key member of the minor league staff for the Cubs.

And another reminder that the Cubs still need a new bench coach, with the departure of Hyde to the Orioles. They’ve already had to replace Chili Davis and Jim Hickey, along with a few other minor coaching roles in Joe Maddon’s staff. So, in the coaching department, it’s been a busy offseason for the Cubs.
