The Cubs finally have a new bench coach to replace Brandon Hyde and it’s former big-league infielder Mark Loretta. The team also announced that Bob Tewksbury is the new mental skills coordinator.

Loretta has spent last 9 seasons in Padres front office. Retired as player in January 2010. He played for the Brewers (1995-2002), Astros (2002, 2007-08), Padres (2003-05), Red Sox (2006) and Dodgers (2009). #Cubs

Let’s hope Loretta sticks around longer than the recent hires. It hasn’t completely been because of failure, quite the opposite, as the last two Cubs bench coaches have left for managerial positions, but the rest of the coaching staff has been changing way too much since winning the World Series in 2016.
