Ben Zobrist played in a baseball game for the first time last Friday for the first time since May and he’ll continue his comeback tour in the minors this week at Myrtle Beach.
The Cubs announced this next step for Zobrist, who is once again expected to play all three games, starting Thursday at the team’s high Single-A affiliate.
Zobrist went 2-for-9, with a walk, two strikeouts, one RBI and a run scored in three games with the South Bend Cubs this past weekend.
The Cubs have to reinstate Zobrist from the restricted list before Sept. 1, for the veteran to be postseason eligible.
