Somehow These Cubs Losses Are Getting Even More Sad

You thought losing five games in a row by one run, including a four-game sweep against the Cardinals, and six straight losses was sad? Well, how about playing the Pirates, who had lost nine games in a row, scoring just 11 runs in their previous six games combined, and then losing 9-2 to them.

Not only did the Cubs lose their seventh game in a row, but Tuesday’s series opener included Kyle Hendricks pitching a no-hitter through five innings and had a shutout entering the seventh inning.

Meanwhile, the Cubs only put up one run through seven innings and left a bunch of more runners stranded. So, with a 1-0 lead to start the bottom of the seventh, this happened.

Those two errors were part of five on the night for the Cubs, as Nico Hoerner had two, Ben Zobrist, Ian Happ and Danny Hultzen each had one.

It was the second time this year the Cubs had at least five errors in a game.

With one more loss or a Brewers win the Cubs will officially be eliminated from the Wild Card race.
