Cubs catcher Willson Contreras injured his hamstring during Saturday’s game against the Brewers and just like 2017, he’s reportedly going to miss four weeks of action.

ESPN’s Jesse Rogers was the first to report the timetable.

The Cubs will make an official announcement prior to tonight’s series opener against the A’s.

Although it’s not the best news, you had to expect Contreras was going to miss at least a few weeks, as he was in obvious pain running down the first base line on Saturday.

This is almost the same scenario the Cubs had in 2017, when Contreras also strained his right hamstring against the Giants. He got injured on Aug. 9, and returned to the Cubs on Sept. 10, of that season.

So, Victor Caratini will handle most of the playing time at catcher until Contreras returns, while the Cubs try and find another catcher on waivers. Taylor Davis was called up on Sunday, when the Cubs placed Contreras on the injured list.
