Another day, another chance for Pete Crow-Armstrong to join elite company in MLB history. The Cubs center fielder continued to add to his historically good season on Tuesday night, when he stole two more bases that brought his total to 21 so far in 2025.
PCA became only the second player since 1906 to hit at least 15 doubles, 15 home runs and steal at least 20 bases in their first 60 games. The only other player to accomplish that was Bobby Bonds back in 1973.
Crow-Armstrong is currently the only player in MLB with 15+ home runs and 20+ stolen bases, which also makes him the only player in baseball who is on pace for a 40-40 season.
Meanwhile, Crow-Armstrong became the fourth-fastest player in MLB history (modern era) to reach 15+ home runs and 20+ stolen bases. The three players ahead of him are the aforementioned Bobby Bonds, Ken Williams and Eric Davis.
After a few rough games during the Cubs home stand last week Crow-Armstrong has rebounded nicely, going 6-for-16, with four walks in his last five games. During that stretch PCA has stolen five bases and scored six runs.
Through June 3, PCA leads the National League with a 3.6 fWAR, ahead of Shohei Ohtani, Corbin Carroll, Francisco Lindor and Freddie Freeman, who round out the top-five.
In a recent poll of 41 experts on MLB.com, Crow-Armstrong received the second-most, first-place votes for NL MVP, trailing the runaway favorite in Ohtani.

Crow-Armstrong’s outstanding first two months have propelled him from “also receiving votes” in our first MVP poll to a strong second-place showing here. His 51 RBIs through Sunday were second-most in baseball, while his 19 stolen bases were second-most in the NL. Meanwhile, his 15 homers through Sunday were second-most among NL outfielders. Also, his 10 Outs Above Average through Sunday led all MLB outfielders.
Not bad for the 23-year-old. PCA is now slashing .281/.319/.562, his 143 wRC+ is ranked No. 12 in the NL. Oh and Crow-Armstrong is the best defensive player and top-rated base runner in MLB as well. What a stud.
