In the eighth inning of Saturday’s 6-0 win by the Cubs over the Reds, Pedro Strop hit Yasiel Puig and the Reds’ outfielder was furious. He slammed his helmet and walked toward the mound, screaming at Strop.

Both benches cleared and the bullpens emptied onto the field, as Puig was held back by a few players.

Warnings were issued to both teams after the benches-clearing incident.

After the game, Strop didn’t hold back, calling Puig stupid.

All righty then!

Not really a fan of hitting guys on purpose. Don’t think Strop did and the name-calling is whatever, but hey, as long as this doesn’t escalate into a dumb beanball war, it should lead to some entertaining back and forth between these two teams.

Plus, it’s always a treat to hear Thom whine whenever the Cubs play the Reds. More of that, please.
