Javy, I know you’re reading this, and if you decide to participate in the home run derby next week and you want to win I just have one request, please have anyone except your brother throw to you during the derby.

Báez was still able to hit 16 homers in the first round of the 2018 HR Derby, despite a slow start because his brother, who was most likely really nervous, threw lots of bad pitches.

Anyway, Báez was named the starting shortstop for the NL All-Star team and on Sunday he revealed that he accepted an invite to be in the HR Derby for the second year in a row. However, he still isn’t 100% certain if he’ll participate or not, as Báez has been playing with a sore heel for quite some time.

Báez said he’ll decide by the end of this week’s series against the Pirates if he’ll be in the derby or not.

And if you’re worried about the derby “ruining” Báez’s swing, c’mon, have you seen him swing? LOL His numbers didn’t dip much at all after the All-Star break last year, posting a .892 OPS before the ASG and .866 OPS after. He even hit home runs at a higher pace after the derby.

The important thing is that he’s healthy for the whole year. So, maybe take the extra day of rest. But at the same time, if he feels good, then, go for it.

But again, pick someone else to throw to you.
