This is basically all good news.
The Cubs beat the A’s 10-1 on Wednesday, finishing their home stand with a 5-1 record. The Cardinals just got swept by the Dodgers and they’ve lost five in a row, so the Cubs currently have a 3.5 game lead in the division over the Brewers and Cardinals.
That’s the biggest division lead of the season for the Cubs.
Now an update on Javier Báez.

The Cubs shortstop went 2-for-4 on Wednesday, driving in two runs and scoring two runs. In the seventh inning, Báez fouled a pitch off his left leg, right above the protective pad, and was then taken out to begin the eighth.
The good news is that it doesn’t seem to be something serious for Báez.
Anyway, Báez was on fire during the home stand and so was Kyle Schwarber.
Huge for both guys to step up with the injury to Willson Contreras. But Schwarber, specifically, is on the hottest streak of his career.
Oh and Jose Quintana had an awesome home stand as well.
Quintana was outstanding on Wednesday, hitting most of his spots against the A’s, earning his sixth straight win.
Oh and the Cubs set a franchise record on Wednesday too!
So, now the Cubs start a 10-game road trip. How confident do you feel in them?
