Even when Javier Báez gets fooled he has the ability and strength to beat you. That’s exactly what happened not once, but twice on Monday night, when he had his sixth multi-HR game of his career.

The first dinger was crushed to left field in the sixth inning, tying the game at two with a 454-foot bomb against the A’s.

Caught out in front? Didn’t matter for El Mago.

His second homer was even bigger, as it turned out to be difference in the game. Also, the wind and the basket should get an assist on Báez’s 28th long ball of the season, which put the Cubs ahead 6-2 in what was an eventual 6-5 Cubs win.

Báez just lofted one high in the air to left and the ball just snuck into the basket for a two-run homer.

All this on the five-year anniversary of his MLB debut that also included Báez’s first MLB home run in extra innings against the Rockies.

And guess who had a sneak peek at the star potential that Báez is now living up to? None other than Nick Castellanos, who played with him in 2012, during the Arizona Fall League.

El Mago sure does know how to celebrate an anniversary.
