After pitching two innings on Sunday, Cubs closer Pedro Strop wasn’t available for Tuesday’s game against the Mariners. So, Joe Maddon went to Steve Cishek for the save. It got a little shaky in the ninth, but the slender right-hander worked himself out of trouble to secure the 6-5 win.

Cishek got the last out in the bottom of the eighth, but in the ninth he fell down trying to get a ground ball hit back to him. He eventually crawled to the ball, but slipped and was only able to bounce a throw over to first base. Following the infield hit, Cishek missed the strike zone badly, walking the next batter.

With two on and nobody out, Cishek got some big help from Daniel Descalso and Javier Báez, who converted on a 4-6-3 double play.

Jay Bruce came up to bat and with the tying run at third, Cishek struck him out looking with an inside fastball. Then, he let out a Strop-like celebration and it was awesome.

Just a great ending to a great baseball game between the Cubs and Mariners.
