It was eventually going to happen, but until it did fans, including myself, were going to complain about Ian Happ not getting back in the lineup and at least trying him out at second base again. Well, that day has come. After sitting for six straight games, Happ is back in the lineup for Wednesday’s series finale against the A’s and he’s getting his first start at second base since his rookie season.

The rest of the lineup remains pretty much the same as the 1-6 hitters against right-handed pitching are set in stone for the Cubs following the trade for Nick Castellanos.

Happ came into Tuesday’s night blowout loss off the bench and went 2-for-2. He’s now 6-for-21 this season with a home run, double, two RBIs and six walks.

Happ’s made a total of 28 MLB starts at second base. Those all came during his rookie season in 2017. He did make 20 starts at second during his time at Triple-A this season.
