The 2016 MLB season ended with what most fans agree to call the best Game 7 of a World Series in the sport’s history. The longest championship drought in American sports history was finally snapped, as the Chicago Cubs won their first World Series title since 1908. So, how do you introduce the new MLB season? Steve Bartman, obviously.
I don’t know who had the brilliant idea of having a Steve Bartman video be not only written, but then made and then actually published, but everyone involved is completely out of touch here. The Fox Sports: MLB Twitter account proudly has this Opening Day video pinned to their Twitter feed, despite being the most hated video on the Internet. And no, I’m not just talking about one side being completely irate and the other side is making fun of those people for being mad. Everyone hates this video.
It features Rachel Bonnetta playing Bartman, who can now live his life as a free man after the Cubs won the World Series. The assumption being that other Cubs fans still blamed him for the Cubs losing the 2003 NLCS and not winning the World Series before 2016.
Pathetic. Quick question, do you know anyone who actually believed Steve Bartman was the reason the Cubs didn’t win in 2003, or actually blamed him for the Cubs’ failures? Those people don’t exist and if they did, they’re probably in a mental institution getting the much needed help they required.

I honestly thought we were over this phase. Even during the NLCS, when the Cubs were trailing the Dodgers 2-1, ESPN made a dumbass video that listed the “Cubs being cursed” as a reason they were down in the series. Stupid, but whatever the Cubs still hadn’t won. But now? Really? The Cubs just fucking won the World Series and you’re throwing this shit up about Steve Bartman?
Give me a break.
