Cubs Top Pitching Prospect Throws 6 No-Hit Innings

-

Last week left-hander Brailyn Marquez struck out 14 and didn’t walk a batter, while allowing just one hit over six innings. It was the most dominant pitching performance by a Cubs prospect maybe ever and he followed that up by throwing six no-hit innings on Wednesday night.

The top pitching prospect in the Cubs minor league system is showing why he’ll be a top-100 prospect in MLB.

Marquez had a perfect game through four innings before walking a batter in the fifth. Yet, he struck out the side in the fifth and had another clean inning in the sixth. After a 14 strikeout game, Marquez struck out eight, walked one, but this time he didn’t give up a hit.

Absolutely dominating over his last two starts.

Marquez made five starts in July and he turned it on after a bumpy month of June. He threw 27.1 innings, giving up just five earned runs (1.65 ERA) while striking out 41 and walking eight. Opponents only hit .175 against him in those five starts.

Don’t trade Brailyn Marquez!
