The Cubs made a roster move before Sunday’s series finale against the Nationals, placing left-hander Derek Holland on the injured list and replacing him with infielder David Bote.
Holland has a wrist bruise, but this move also comes as Anthony Rizzo is out of the lineup today. He left after the top of the fifth inning of Saturday’s game with back tightness and the Cubs were only playing with a three-man bench.
So, with no Rizzo available the Cubs have an extra bench guy in Bote. The Cubs hope Rizzo can return after Monday’s off day.
