Cubs Cap Off Elimination With Another Miserable Loss

I’m not saying the Cubs quit after getting swept by the Cardinals, but there hasn’t been much resistance put up from them since. After the Brewers clinched a playoff spot on Wednesday night, the Cubs were officially eliminated from postseason contention, but they still had to finish their game against the Pirates.

And nothing is more perfect for the 2019 Cubs than to be eliminated from the playoff race and then lose to the Pirates on a wild pitch, two actually,

David Phelps threw two wild pitches in the eight inning, allowing Jose Osuna to score. The Pirates added a sac-fly to win 4-2.

The Cubs have now lost eight games in a row for the first time since 2012, when Anthony Rizzo was in his first season with Chicago.

What a way to go out in 2019.
