The Cubs are starting a three-game series against the Mets Tuesday night and although he isn’t scheduled to start until this weekend, left-hander Cole Hamels won’t be in New York with the team.

The Cubs have placed Hamels on the paternity list, meaning he won’t be with the team for at least one game and no more than three. Right-hander James Norwood has been called up to take Hamels’ roster spot.

Norwood has been great as of late pitching out of the bullpen with the Iowa Cubs at Triple-A.

Hamels will be back to start against the Brewers on Saturday.
