The Cubs won on Saturday, beating the Brewers 4-1, but they lost Willson Contreras to a hamstring injury. So, before Sunday’s series finale at Wrigley Field, the Cubs were forced to call up Triple-A catcher Taylor Davis.

Davis has played in 53 games with the Iowa Cubs this season, slashing .250/.358/.350, with five home runs. He was up earlier this year with the Cubs and hit his first career home run. It happened to be a grand slam against the Cardinals.

Davis has gone 8-for-33 during his brief time in the majors.

Victor Caratini is getting the start today and he’ll be catching most of the time until Contreras returns. Davis will be the backup until the Cubs find a better option.

Contreras will have an MRI on his right hamstring Monday to determine how serious the injury is.
