Cubs Bring Back Carl Edwards Jr.

-

The Cubs have optioned right-hander Dillon Maples before Monday’s series opener against the Marlins and have called up Carl Edwards Jr.

Edwards was demoted to Iowa after making four appearances to start the season with the Cubs. He walked five batters and gave up two home runs and six earned runs overall in 1.2 innings.

While at Iowa, Edwards had a 2.16 ERA in 8.1 innings. He only walked two and struck out seven in seven games at Triple-A.

So, hopefully Edwards can once again become a helpful piece in the Cubs bullpen that has been the best in MLB since April 7.
