Kyle Schwarber hit a grand slam and then a three-run home run on Sunday to give the Cubs a 7-0 lead, but in the fifth inning Jose Quintana was derailed and gave up three runs. Brad Brach came in with runners at second and third and got the final out, but after the past two games there was definitely an ominous feeling about this one.

That was until the sixth inning, when Ian Happ worked a two-out walk, his third walk of the game, and then Schwarber beat out a throw for a single. He was originally called out and that would have ended the inning, but the Cubs challenged and won the video review.

Victor Caratini pinch-hit for Brach and hit a three-run HR, giving the Cubs a seven-run lead once again.

A huge day from the bottom of the order and desperately needed, as the top half of the lineup hasn’t done much today, but the Cubs have still put up 10 runs.
