Well, this isn’t that surprising, but it’s also another reason to be upset about the Cubs handling of their bullpen. It was speculated that the Cubs would place Daniel Descalso on the injured list today, but instead it’s Pedro Strop.
Ben Zobrist has also been placed on the restricted list. Addison Russell has been called up and Mike Montgomery is back as well to take Strop’s spot in the bullpen.
If you remember back to spring training, Strop tweaked his hamstring then and missed some time. This is the same hamstring injury and now he’s going to be out for at least a few more weeks.
Earlier this week Strop looked terrible against the Marlins, walking three and giving up a hit, as he blew Monday’s game at Wrigley Field. This leg injury most definitely contributed to his wildness.

Hopefully everything is OK with Ben Zobrist, as he’ll be away from the team because of a personal issue. Mike Montgomery was placed on the injured list in April with a lat issue. He’s been rehabbing in the minors for the past couple weeks.
Addison Russell is back and he’s starting at second base Wednesday night.
The Cubs moved up the start time to 6:35 p.m.
