Patrick Williams’ Injury Is A Major Blow to Bulls’ Frontcourt

-

News broke Friday afternoon that Bulls forward Patrick Williams is to miss the remainder of the regular season with a wrist injury. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski says that Williams suffered a left wrist dislocation and will undergo surgery soon.

The timetable for Williams’ return isn’t fully clear quite yet but the hope is that he would return in time for the playoffs. Bulls coach Billy Donovan said that the wrist injury is “pretty significant.”

Implications Of The Injury

While Arturas Karnisovas has not announced any plans to find more front-court depth, it would be wise. So far this season, the Bulls have struggled to win the rebounding battle. The team is already relatively small as a lineup even with Williams in it.

Whether it’s via the trade market or picking up a free agent, the Bulls need to move quickly. A matchup with Utah Saturday night doesn’t bode well for this team as it currently stands.

Lonzo Ball, Zach Lavine, and Demar DeRozan have done a nice job chipping into the rebounding effort however that won’t be enough for this next stretch of games.
