Insider Claims Mitch Trubisky Has No Chance In Bears QB Competition

Matt Nagy has repeated it over and over. There is no favoritism in this upcoming Chicago Bears quarterback competition. Mitch Trubisky and Nick Foles are each starting at the bottom whenever training camp begins. From there, it will be whomever makes the bigger impression right up until the beginning of the regular season that gets the nod. An honest-to-goodness competition.

Knowing this, people around the country have their opinions on who will emerge victorious. Some think Trubisky will do enough to at least start the season, getting one more shot. Others think Foles will ultimately prove the more consistent and reliable performer. It’s actually more divided than one would think. Or is it?

NFL insider Peter Schrager talked about the competition on Good Morning Football. His argument painted a clear, bleak picture for Trubisky. For one, he’s already been in a major competition before back in college. Which he lost. Now he’s going against a guy with a Super Bowl ring who has way stronger ties to the coaching staff than he does.

Mitch Trubisky must do what he failed to in training camp last year

It feels like the battlefield for Trubisky will be training camp. It was there last season that people first started to get concerned about how much progress he was making the offense. Too often he was misfiring throws and tossing interceptions to a defense that had his number in most drills. That defense appears even more formidable than last season. So is it possible for him to avoid what happened last year?

If he does, it would become the talk of the summer to be sure. A sign that the competition is having the desired effect. There is no doubt the best-case scenario for the Bears is for Trubisky to elevate his game and remain the starter. However, they can’t bank on that happening. Foles is their insurance policy. He’ll be ready and he won’t make it easy for the former #2 pick.
