It seems not everybody was impressed with Allen Robinson in 2019. Despite posting 1,147 yards with inconsistent quarterback player at best, the 27-year old still seems to have his share of critics. Former player Ryan Clark was the first to voice his lack of understanding of why he gets so much respect.

Now it seems an even bigger name decides to take a swipe at him. During a segment on NFL Network, Hall of Fame running back LaDainian Tomlinson called the Chicago Bears receiving corps his biggest question mark going into 2020. That’s fair. There are some unknowns with the group. Anthony Miller’s health being a big one. Ted Ginn’s age (35) and whether any of their youngsters like Riley Ridley or Darnell Mooney can step up.

Yet his critiques were limited to them. He had words on Robinson as well.

More consistent? Robinson had at least 60 receiving yards in seven of his first nine games. He had less than five catches just twice the entire season. That is a model of consistency. It seems the receiver didn’t take kindly to Tomlinson’s words and made his displeasure known.

Allen Robinson is getting plenty of motivational juice

One thing is for sure in all this. Robinson won’t lack bulletin board material this year. The disrespect is real with a lot of these guys. Here he is almost doubling the production of the next best receiver on the Bears roster and he gets called inconsistent. The Bears offense was bad enough with him on the field. It would’ve been a national embarrassment without him.

The team isn’t going to complain about Tomlinson’s comments. Why would they? It will only serve to push Robinson even harder. Him playing angry will help them on the field. If anything a number of teammates will probably end up reminding him about those comments from time to time. Get him nice and riled up. Even if they are completely unfounded.
