Flying Under the Radar: One Bears Breakout Player Everyone is Overlooking

-

The Bears improved to 2-2 with a big home win on Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams. While the defense has been strong all season, it was a complete team effort that sealed the victory. One player who deserves more recognition is second-year defensive tackle Gervon Dexter Sr. The Bears 2023 second-round pick has started the season strong, recording 3 sacks in 4 games. He also boasts one of the highest pass rush win percentages among defensive tackles in the league. He’s simply been a dominant force inside.

Ryan Poles may have a few misses, but his draft hits are increasingly becoming more and more impactful. Early on, there were concerns about Gervon Dexter’s burst off the line, with some thinking he might be too slow. However, in his second year, Dexter looks noticeably quicker. The Bears defense is already strong, particularly in the secondary, but Dexter is emerging as a star on the defensive line. His growth is a promising sign for the Bears future.

@BD(30 IQ) No David is not a Lion. He is to be fed to the Lions in his loin cloth, nothing more. The Lions would only tear you apart but would not eat on a hyena for hygienic reasons.

The male hyenas here are just neither intelligent nor knowledgeable beyond a high school level at best. They simply are not deserving of my info and analysis. So I shall hold off for now until I detect a change in mentality, if ever. You lose again.
I will keep to myself the composite of eight way too early draft boards with my comments. I will send it to the Bears’ public office at the right time.

Give Dex some deserved respect. 3 sacks in 4 games is great work for a DT. As far as comments about the Draft and DL or OL picks, just remember that you can’t bank on a guy becoming a star just because he’s a 1st or 2nd rounder. Two out of 3 never realize their “potential”. But every once in a while you find a diamond in the rough like Richard Dent from the 8th round, Brady in the late 6th or get an undrafted gem like Hilgenberg. It is hit or miss for ALL GMs. Next year’s crop of… Read more »

While I’m not a fan of the way he’s slow rolling this (or perhaps just stalling), Sallie does have a point. Next year’s crop of DL looks very strong, and the OL not so much. Top rated center has somewhere between a 3rd and 4th round grade, and has some obvious weaknesses. Not as sure about guards, but the key there is to find good value. Quentin Nelson and Zach Martin are great guards, but they aren’t twice as great as some guards picked in the second or third round. The ultimate goal of the draft is to take the… Read more »
