Cordarrelle Patterson Openly Recruiting Teddy Bridgewater to Bears

-

It seems at least one person isn’t afraid to let his voice be heard in regards to the Chicago Bears quarterback situation. Wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson apparently caught wind the rumors early on Monday that the team was in talks with possibly acquiring veteran quarterback Teddy Bridgewater. A move that almost certainly would’ve threatened the stance of Mitch Trubisky as starting quarterback.

Those rumors quickly died away with many believing that the talks died. That didn’t seem to sit well with Patterson. He took to Twitter and called out to Bridgewater. When confronted about what that might look like to Trubisky, his current QB, the receiver didn’t even blink stating that every position needs to have competition.

This sends a pretty clear message. Patterson isn’t all that enthused about the idea of Trubisky being his quarterback for another year. He knows Bridgewater well. The two played together as teammates in Minnesota. He also saw what the 27-year old did to the Bears defense when he came to Soldier Field last year. Patterson may be a good teammate, but he’s not dumb.

If he senses a chance for this offense to get better, he won’t pass on it.

Cordarrelle Patterson can only help the Bears’ cause

While some have declared the Bears’ pursuit of Bridgewater dead, the truth is it’s not. A better description is it’s gone into a slight coma. Belief is the quarterback is waiting to see what happens with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. They have interest in him but are currently in hot pursuit of Tom Brady. Bridgewater is a Florida native and has connections to Buccaneers defensive coordinator Todd Bowles.

If Brady ends up going to Tampa, that closes a big door for him and opens one for the Bears who have been the most active in pursuit. It doesn’t guarantee they land him, but the odds would be much more in their favor at that point. Everything hinges on what Brady does. Still, Patterson sending him shoutouts can only help the cause.
