The Chicago Bears have waited and wondered just like every other team. Will there be training camps and if so when? The lack of information is frustrating for obvious reasons. All brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic. Players are nervous about what to expect. Does the league have any sort of plan on how to keep them safe? While those questions are still being worked on, the first part finally has an answer.

Troy Vincent Sr., the Executive Vice President of Football Operations for the league sent out an email to every team. Training camps will take place and official report dates are set. Bears rookies will head to Halas Hall in three days on July 21st. They’ll be followed two days later by quarterbacks and any injured players. The rest of the roster will join them on July 28th.

It will mark the first time the team has assembled fully since the end of last season. A span of seven months. Odds are head coach Matt Nagy won’t waste a single second putting them to work. With the preseason already shortened to two games and the risk still there of it being cut outright, these upcoming practices will be priceless for him and the coaching staff to get this team ready for the season.

Chicago Bears have a ton of questions to answer

The biggest by far is the quarterback situation. July 23rd will mark the first time Nick Foles and Mitch Trubisky are in the same building together. Foles is already behind schedule, having yet to throw a single pass to any of the wide receivers. An advantage Trubisky has enjoyed thanks to his close proximity to them. Foles has an uphill battle to fight and the shortened preseason won’t help.

That isn’t the only competition to sort out. Other positions need sorting out as well. Who will be the starting right guard? Who will man the cornerback spot opposite Kyle Fuller? Will Tashaun Gipson or Deon Bush join Eddie Jackson at safety? People have their predictions but no answers. Those will finally start to arrive within the next month.
