The Chicago Bears are hoping to move their record to 3-0 this coming Sunday. It will take place on the road against the Atlanta Falcons. Never an easy task with longtime great quarterback Matt Ryan under center. His ability to put up points is something that should never be overlooked. That being said, it’s safe to say the Bears might not see that Falcons team at their best.

For starters, Atlanta is reeling from one of the most painful collapses in recent memory. After leading the Dallas Cowboys 29-10 and 39-24 last Sunday, they watched things fall apart in the final seconds to lose 40-39. It dropped them to 0-2 on the season. People are already starting to panic and those feelings were magnified by what came out on Wednesday.

It turns out the Falcons are dealing with a particularly brutal string of injuries. Many of them to their best players. Check out the list of names who didn’t practice from Tori McElhaney of The Athletic. It’s certainly a sight to behold.

Chicago Bears could face a discouraged, depleted team

Think about that. The Falcons were missing their superstar receiver, both starting offensive tackles, both starting defensive ends and two of their top three safeties. That is an ugly array of ailments for a team to deal with. Jones reportedly aggravated a hamstring injury against Dallas and his status is in question. It’s already known McGary won’t play this week. Even if just half of the other names don’t play, it’s a huge loss.

The Falcons already have the worst defense in the NFL. So losing any starters just makes it worse. Their offense is their one saving grace. Losing so many key guys against a Bears defense that is loaded from front to back is not ideal. Will they be able to adjust and pull out their first victory of the season?
