Bruce Arians is about to try taking down the Chicago Bears for their second loss in less than a week on Thursday Night Football. That said, he is not lacking respect for this team. Especially their new quarterback in Nick Foles.

It’s important to remember that few coaches know about great quarterbacks more than Arians. The list of names he’s worked with over the years is impressive, to say the least from Peyton Manning to Ben Roethlisberger, Carson Palmer, and now Tom Brady. He’s worked with some of the best to ever do it.

That is why his words regarding Foles were so interesting. Patrick Finley of the Chicago Sun-Times took down what he had to say about the 31-year old journeyman.

Foles has “always been a winner,” said Buccaneers coach Bruce Arians, who watched the Super Bowl with a beer in his hand after playing golf in Arizona.

“Nick is a hell of a quarterback,” Arians said. ‘‘And he can move a team. Guys have a tendency to gravitate around him, and they want to play well.”

Praise doesn’t get much higher from somebody like Arians. Especially when it comes to quarterbacks.

Bruce Arians only hopes Foles’ ascent waits another week

If he’s right, then it’s only a matter of time before Foles starts to find his groove in this Bears offense. Certainly, he’s hoping to prevent that from happening tonight at Soldier Field. His Buccaneers certainly arrived at an opportune time. Foles made his first start in months last Sunday against a fierce Colts defense and looked off most of the day.

Now he has to turn around in just four days to duel with Tom Brady in primetime. That is demanding a lot, even from a veteran like him. Yet given the stories told over the past few years, don’t expect a slow start to discourage him. Foles has a remarkable ability to shrug off tough stretches and find ways to win. The longer he’s able to stay on the field, the better he is likely to play.

All the Bears have to do is stay afloat until that happens.
