Brother of Brian Urlacher Charged in Massive Police Crackdown

-

Brian Urlacher is a true icon in Chicago sports history. One would think it’s hard to dampen the Urlacher name in this town. Well, his brother is certainly making an attempt to do just that. Casey Urlacher has kept out of the mainstream eye for years, seeming to content himself with a modest political career. As it turns out, that was all a facade for something much bigger and much sleazier.

Jason Meisner of the Chicago Tribune reported that he along with nine other people including police officers were charged with the crime of running an offshore sports gambling ring. Urlacher could face some akin to five years in federal prison if the chargers end up in a guilty verdict. Certainly not something his family would ever want to hear.

“The brother of Chicago Bears legend Brian Urlacher was among 10 people charged in a federal indictment Thursday alleging they ran an offshore sports gambling ring that raked in millions of dollars from hundreds of Chicago area gamblers.

Casey Urlacher, 40, who is the mayor of the tiny village of Mettawa in Lake County, was charged with conspiracy and running an illegal gambling business. He is accused of acting as an agent for the gambling ring, recruiting bettors in exchange for a cut of their eventual losses.”

No quotes have surfaced from Brian Urlacher himself

It’s unlikely they will for some time as he and his family sort through the undoubted shock of this development. All one can say is that his brother fell in with the wrong crowd and got way too deep into a side hustle that finally caught up to him. Evidence in regards to these charges won’t be released for some time but one can imagine the police would not have move without a substantial amount of it.
