Brian Urlacher Begs The Bears To Do The Unthinkable

-

Brian Urlacher thinks the Bears must give John Fox a couple more years

John Fox is not on the best of terms with Bears fans lately. They’ve grown tired of the sloppy, undisciplined play his teams continue to put out every single week. He likes to talk about how the team could easily be 4-2 if not for unfortunate mistakes. Well that goes both ways. They also could be 0-6 because of some huge blunders in their two victories.

Yet that didn’t stop Urlacher, who is a fan of Fox, from saying the team has to give him a couple more years. The reason being it will take time for Trubisky to absorb the current offensive system. Stability is critical for a young quarterback in his mind.

To be fair to Brian he’s not entirely right about this. A number of notable quarterbacks saw a lot of changes early in their careers and still ended up finding success. Aaron Rodgers was drafted in 2005 under head coach Mike Sherman. A year later Sherman was fired and replaced with Mike McCarthy. From 2005 to 2012 Alex Smith had six different offensive coordinators and three different head coaches. Then he was traded to the Chiefs in 2013 under Andy Reid and he went to the Pro Bowl.

The point being that while his heart may be in the right place, it doesn’t mean his opinion is foolproof. Don’t forget that the moment Fox left Denver in 2015 they won the Super Bowl. Maybe, just maybe the Bears can do better.
