Bears Unveil Cole Kmet In Team Gear For The First Time and It’s Sharp

Hopes are high from the Chicago Bears that Cole Kmet will become something special down the road. That star tight end the team has gone a long time without. It’s why they made him their first pick of the 2020 draft. Some question his overall ceiling. While a big, strong kid with good athleticism, he didn’t produce epic results on the field in terms of stats. Most would call it average.

Those close to him don’t seem worried about it. For one, Kmet wasn’t exactly playing in a pass-first offense. Nor did he have a good quarterback throwing him the ball. Then there is the other issue that isn’t getting enough attention. The guy never devoted 100% of his time in college to football. He spent one half of it in baseball too, working as a relief pitcher on the diamond.

Now he’s totally focused on the former. His talent and work ethic are there. If he stays healthy, the guy can be as good as he wants. One thing is for sure. If he does deliver, his jersey is going to go flying off shelves. Just look at the awesome behind-the-scenes video provided by the Bears, providing a sneak peek of what #85 will look like.

Cole Kmet has a change to forge his own path with that number

When most people think about the number 85, it gets equated to their Super Bowl run all those years ago. When it comes to the jersey number? That’s a bit different. To date, only one notable player has worn it. That was Dennis McKinnon back in the 1980s. Since then it’s kind of been in limbo. Mostly nobodies have worn it.

Some may see that as a bad sign. However, it could be viewed in another way. The #54 didn’t have any legacy to speak of most of its existence in Chicago. Then Brian Urlacher got his hands on it. The rest is history. Kmet is talented enough to do the same. He can be that guy who makes the #85 a constant mention is Bears households everywhere.

He’ll certainly make it look stylish if nothing else.
